la joie de vivre

From California to Lyon, France: living & studying abroad…and coming back!

Moving stuff in France

With lots of stairs, tiny (or no) elevators, and tiny streets, how do people do it?

With lifts!

I’ve never seen these before, so I’m not sure if they’re used in other parts in the States outside of California. But how it works is that one moving person goes up to a room in the apartment with a window, and another is downstairs in the moving truck. They work together and transfer things on the lift to pull it through the window.

It’s a pretty slow process, but if you live on the cinquème étage (6th floor, considering they call their first floor the one above the ground floor) without an elevator, it seems pretty worth it to me!
